Guy Laliberté and the One Drop Foundation
Sally writes, “I have just returned from seeing Cirque de Soleil’s KA in Las Vegas and I am awestruck by its epic, fantastical vision in “exploring the void.” Cirque founder Guy Laliberté shares the rare ability Jim Henson had to unite and inspire people through imaginative performance. Laliberté founded One Drop in Canada in 2007 to fundraise and educate, using innovative practices and ventures, in order to ensure equal access to water worldwide.”

Why is it beautiful? Laliberté has an unmatched ability to unite diverse performers, designers and engineers in incredible displays of prowess and imagination. No one could fail to be inspired by the magic he produces.
Why is it useful? Too often fundraising loses supporters because the subject matter is depressing and the fundraisers are earnest. Using the inspirational power of performance to communicate a cause should be able to motivate even the most reluctant givers.
Why is it green? The cause is water availability. According to the UN 1 in 6 people worldwide do not have access to safe freshwater. In an One Drop introductory video various performers are asked what water would say if it could talk. One acrobat answers, “I want to meet everybody, every day.” Laliberté and his stable of visionaries may be able to help make that happen.
